Amooti said that in other countries the content creator and other creatives earn from their work online because of copyright law which doesn’t work in Uganda.
Amooti has been in comedy for over 25 years. He is even organising a concert to celebrate the years he has been putting smiles on people’s faces.
In Uganda, creatives are pushing hard for the copyright law to be implemented so that people like Amooti who have been in the industry can retire with money to live off.
According to the legendary comedian, the only thing that keeps him moving forward is the fact that he makes people happy and the few bookings he gets from that.
“There is no copyright law, so I haven’t gained much from comedy. However, I’ve come to terms with it—I make people happy, and if I’m lucky, someone books me,” Amooti said in an interview with Boom Uganda.
