UNAIDS Director Winnie Byanyima Pushes Gov’t on the Wall; “Release my Husband Dr Kizza Besigye”

Former Forum for Democratic Change-FDC President Dr Kizza Besigye’s wife, Winnie Byanyima, has launched a bitter attack on the Uganda government, demanding the immediate release of her husband from the Military Jail in Kampala.

Executive Director of UNAIDS stated how her husband who was in Nairobi for Hon Martha Karua’s book launch was kidnapped on Saturday in Nairobi, Kenya, and quietly deported him back to Uganda.

Although Dr Kizza Besigye stepped down from active politics, he has been vocal about the issues facing the country and politics at large.

The reasons behind his current arrest haven’t been publicly revealed, the family is still requesting the government to release him.

“I request the govt of Uganda to release my husband Dr Kizza Besigye from where he is being held immediately.
Last Saturday, he was kidnapped in Nairobi for Hon Martha Karua’s book launch. I am now reliably informed that he is in a military jail in Kampala. We his family and his lawyers demand to see him. He is not a soldier. Why is he being held in a military jail?” Winnie Byanyima.
