Minister Balaam Barugahara has advised National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters not to always rely on their party.
Balaam said that the party doesn’t have true intentions towards them because if they did, they would be assigning them intern lawyers like Hon Shamim Malende.
Ever since Balaam was appointed minister, revealed that he is going to make sure all NUP arrested supporters are released. Some of them have been in prison for four years on different cases.
Indeed he visited these prisoners and also asked President Museveni to pardon them, let them free to go see their families, and continue with life.
On his visit, Balaam said that he had a conversation with the NUP prisoners and told them whatever was going on while they were arrested told them the reality of NUP.
“I visited the NUP supporters in prison, spoke with them, and provided strategic guidance. I advised them not to rely on their party, because if the party truly intended to help, they wouldn’t have assigned interns as their lawyers,” Balaam.
Balaam fulfilled his promises, and all the 19 NUP supporters who were arrested finally got released lately.
