Singer Pallaso real name Pius Mayanja has bragged about being the first Ugandan TikToker.
Pallaso said that he is proud to have created an opportunity for the young talents in Uganda in that some of them clearly earn from the app.
TikTok is a Chinese app that was created in 2016 but Ugandans were never using it. During the COVID-19 lockdown, most people were laid off their jobs and were idle at home scrolling on their phones day and night.
According to Pallaso, during the COVID-19 period, he received a phone call from a Kenyan lady friend who asked him to create a TikTok account because they wanted to introduce the app to Ugandans.
The singer said that he might not be praised for that but he wants people to know that.
“I was the one who introduced TikTok to Uganda during the COVID-19 period in 2020. Gladys from Kenya reached out to me, saying they wanted to bring TikTok to Uganda and asked me to create the first TikTok account in the country,” – Pallaso.
