Mityana Municipality MP Hon. Francis Zaake was beaten to a pulp in a parliament scuffle, rushed to hospital sustained injuries, and felt uncomfortable following a scuffle that broke out in the chambers of Parliament during plenary sitting.

This came after Mr. Zaake raised fears of insecurity in the House chambers claiming some people who are not MPs had entered the House with guns.

In a video that has since made rounds on social media, the Kilak North MP Anthony Akol is seen beating up his Mityana Municipality counterpart, Francis Zaake for allegedly taking up his seat in the Chambers during plenary session.

Earlier, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among evoked Rule 9 and declared a free sitting, given the huge number of MPs in the Chambers.
All this follows the heated discussion in the parliament today as the house discusses the controversial National Coffee Amendment Bill 2024 that seeks to rationalize the Uganda Coffee Development Authority UCDA to the ministry of agriculture which most legislators are against.
